Sharjah24: Sharjah is gearing up for the grand unveiling of the 8th edition of the Xposure International Photography Festival (Xposure 2024), slated to commence tomorrow and run until March 5 at Expo Centre Sharjah. This highly anticipated event, a cornerstone for the global photography and cinematography community, promises an immersive journey through a curated collection of 2,500 photographs. Beyond the visual extravaganza, the festival presents a rich content programme comprising over 200 events. From workshops and seminars to film screenings and competitions, Xposure 2024 will blend art, education, and entertainment to deliver a comprehensive experience to attendees.
A multifaceted programme
Organised by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), this seven-day extravaganza serves as a melting pot for 400 photographers hailing from over 50 countries. Among them are 150 esteemed lensmen, including luminaries such as David Hume Kennerly, Pete Souza, Zed Nelson, Rick Smolan, Nicole Tung, Eric Meola, and Craig Parry. The festival also features a trade exhibition showcasing products from over 18 leading brands worldwide.
Diverse exhibition sections
The Xposure exhibitions are thoughtfully curated across various categories, comprising 25 sections dedicated to documentary and photojournalism, 15 to Nature & Wildlife, Travel & Adventure, Urban and Street Life, 10 to Fine Art and Creative Expression, 5 to Portrait art, Sports & Action, Technical and Experimental.
Empowering workshops, enlightening talks
Photography enthusiasts, whether seasoned or aspiring, can partake in a plethora of world-class opportunities aimed at nurturing their creative prowess. With over 66 workshops, discussions, and programs led by 27 international experts, alongside 10 masterclasses by Adobe's labs, more than 34 inspiring talks, 45 focus group discussions, and 50 portfolio review sessions, visitors have ample chances to glean insights from industry stalwarts, refine their skills, and elevate their artistic and professional journeys.
Insightful documentaries
In a nod to its commitment to education and enlightenment, Xposure will screen 27 short and long documentaries during the first three days of the festival, from February 28 to March 1. These thought-provoking films will continue to be showcased throughout the event. Meanwhile, the photo exhibition presents collectors and art enthusiasts with a treasure trove of over 2,500 invaluable images, collectively valued at more than AED 22 million, offering the chance to secure commemorative signatures from the photographers themselves.
