Sharjah24: Yesterday, the Sharjah Training Media Centre at the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA) arranged a tour to a wheat field in the Mleiha area, as well as a session on wheat and its applications for 40 workers.
The visit began with an exploratory tour of the farm, during which participants learned about the farm's technical specifications. His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, launched the farm in 2022 as a strategic project to help meet the Emirate's food needs.

The staff then attended a training organised by an agricultural specialist, where they learned about wheat production practices and the important elements influencing its performance. They learnt about the wheat seed varieties grown in Mleiha that are appropriate for the region's location and circumstances, as well as the quality of production and irrigation methods employing cutting-edge equipment and advanced water-saving technology.

Furthermore, the staff attended a second course on wheat's usage in the food business and attempted to bake various wheat-based delicacies.

Shaimaa Abdullah Abdul Rahim, Director of the Sharjah Training Media Centre, stated that the purpose of the visit and workshops is to raise employees' awareness of the Sharjah government's efforts to improve food security and to familiarise them with agricultural sustainability projects in the Emirate.

The authority personnel who attended the training emphasised the necessity of organising such activities, which raise awareness of the need for food security and introduce them to agricultural sustainability initiatives in the Emirate.
