Fawaghi Al Fardan, Events Officer in the Theater Department, announced that the 7th edition of the Dibba Al-Hisn Dual Theatre Festival is set to commence on Friday, February 16. It will showcase 5 specially produced theatrical performances, making their debut on this stage. These performances represent the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Egypt, Syria, and Morocco.
In statements to "Sharjah 24," Al-Fardan affirmed that the festival encompasses a significant event, the 19th Sharjah Arab Theatre Forum, themed "The Theatre and the Future." This forum aims to explore the role of theatre, often referred to as the "Father of the Arts," in envisioning and shaping the future. Discussions will delve into how theatre approaches various narratives, perspectives, and positions, as well as its role in posing questions, generating ideas, and exploring diverse possibilities while responding to emerging challenges.
Al-Fardan highlighted the festival's initiation with the distinctive Emirati show "Some Things," followed by the Egyptian performance "Request Form" the following day. On the third day, the audience will be treated to the Kuwaiti production "The Origin of the Story," while the fourth night will feature the Moroccan presentation "Banners" by the Akoon Theatre Group. The festival concludes on the fifth night with the Syrian performance "Encounter."
She emphasised that the festival aims to foster cultural dialogue and facilitate the exchange of experiences among theatre practitioners in the region. This edition stands out with its diverse and enriching participation from various Arab countries.
