During the technical meeting on Saturday, the committee stated that the AWST championship would include competitions in the recurve and compound bow categories, with competitions adhering strictly to the regulations and laws of the sport without modifications.
Teams participating in the competitions include the Sharjah Women's Sports Club, Abu Dhabi Archery Club, Saudi Arabia's Al Thuqbah Club, and the Nile Club from Sudan. Also in contention are Kuwait Club and Bahrain Club, representing their respective countries.
The preliminary rounds of the championship will commence on Sunday, followed by the elimination rounds for individual competitions starting at 1:00 PM and team competitions at 4:00 PM. The finals will be held on Monday.
Bodor Salah Al Shukr, the administrative manager of the archery team at Sharjah Women's Sports Club, expressed confidence in the team's preparedness. The final lineup, comprising eight players chosen from a pool of 40, is set to compete in both the recurve and compound bow categories.
Al Shukr noted that the team underwent a rigorous two-month preparation period, including participation in internal and external tournaments, as well as two intensive training camps. The team's readiness was further bolstered by their recent participation in the third stage of the local league competition, just ahead of AWST 2024.
