Sharjah 24: The Emirates Library and Information Association (ELIA) is participating in the 55th edition of the Cairo International Book Fair 2024, from January 25 to February 6, 2024.
The association, in cooperation with the Egyptian Library Association, participates in the Emirati-Egyptian Libraries Symposium, which is held in conjunction with the Cairo International Book Fair under the title “Information Library Associations and Promoting National Information and Cultural Policies” on Thursday, February 1, 2024.
Fahd Al Mamari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Library and Information Association, confirmed that this symposium is the first of its kind at the regional level, and aims to exchange experiences and cultures between workers in the Emirati and Egyptian library sectors. The association’s participation in this symposium comes in implementation of the agreement signed between the two parties.
The symposium sessions are divided into 3 sessions, the first session is on the role of library and information associations in formulating national policies, the second session is on building partnerships with governments and international and regional organisations, and the third session is on advocacy strategies and mobilising support for libraries at the national and regional levels.
