Sharjah24: The Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club has achieved a new milestone, marking the conclusion of the 2023 Jiu-Jitsu competitions. The club's athletes successfully garnered a total of 1,589 diverse medals across tournaments hosted by the Jiu-Jitsu Federation, external competitions, and those organised by the club itself. Moreover, the club was honoured with the title of Best International Academy in the Abu Dhabi International Award and secured the top position for juniors in the Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Championship. This remarkable feat, unprecedented in its scale, included the acquisition of 597 gold, 563 silver, and 429 bronze medals in a single season, along with the acquisition of 28 cups and shields. Notably, 17 of these were in the first position, 5 in the second, and 6 in the third.
Highlighting specific accomplishments, the club's athletes clinched the first spot in the President's Cup for girls under 14 and the Grand Slam Championship for juniors. They also achieved first place in the Asian Youth Championship and emerged victorious in all challenge tournaments organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation in 2023, totaling four championships. Furthermore, the club's Jiu-Jitsu team members showcased their excellence by having two players shortlisted for the Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi Award for Sports Excellence, solidifying the club's prominent position among Emirati sports clubs.
