Sharjah24: In an interview with "Sharjah 24," Francisco Miranda, a Spanish artist and graphics designer taking part in the Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival (SIAF) for the second year, discussed his involvement with the event and the exhibits he will be presenting to the visitors.
Miranda said: “I have been experimenting with light, both as an object and as an installation, in my work as a graphic designer and artist for the past few years. This year's event has the topic "Manifestations," and I'll be presenting an immersive installation as part of it. Here, I conjure up these luminous columns as celestial symbols of the truth as it pertains to our shared humanity or the religious convictions of different nations.
For the sake of creating an image of the truth or the holy, I just spread these reflective items around. Therefore, anyone who watches will wonder, "Where is the truth?" whenever the topic arises. Are these things the key, or is it the light they reflect? So, such was the general idea behind the light fixture installation.
Currently, I'm focusing on light installations, which I connect to Islamic art and the idea of the divine. The works were primarily created for the festival; therefore, this is their first public showing. I am presenting these for the first time.”
