Sharjah 24: BEEAH launched the world's first commercial-scale waste-to-hydrogen plant in Sharjah, in cooperation with Chinook Hydrogen and Air Water Gas Solutions, at COP28 in Dubai, to support sustainable energy.
Fahd Shuhail, Chief Operating Officer of BEEAH, announced that the group has launched the world’s first commercial-scale waste-to-hydrogen plant. The announcement was made during the COP28 held at Expo City Dubai.
Speaking exclusively to Sharjah 24, Fahd Shuhail explained that the project was developed in cooperation with the British “Chinook Hydrogen” and the Japanese “Air Water Gas Solutions” companies, whereas the cooperation is a pioneering step towards enhancing the sustainability of resources and supporting the transition towards clean energy in the region. Shuhail added that the plant aims to convert solid waste into green hydrogen, which is an alternative and clean energy source that can be used in various industrial and commercial sectors.
Shuhail stressed the importance of this step in enhancing the UAE’s role as a pioneer in the field of sustainable energy and environmental technology. He also pointed out that the station will contribute to reducing carbon emissions and achieving the UAE’s sustainability goals.
This initiative comes within BEEAH efforts to contribute to reaching innovative and effective solutions for waste management, and converting waste into valuable energy resources. This step reflects the UAE's commitment to investing in advanced technologies to protect the environment and support the green economy.
