Volunteers from Sharjah Centre for Voluntary Work participated in managing the volunteer event, where they cooperated with the police and concerned authorities in securing the route of the march, assisting and accompanying the blind while walking, and exchanging conversations with them. Another group of volunteers took on the task of providing organisational and supervisory support for the event, which contributed significantly to its success.
Hessa Al Hammadi, Director of the Community Cohesion Department, expressed the importance of participation in the event in enhancing awareness in society regarding the issues of the visually impaired, and highlighting their achievements and contributions to building society.
Al Hammadi pointed to the importance of International White Cane Safety Day, which sheds light on the efforts of the United Arab Emirates in empowering and supporting integration of people with visual disabilities into society.
She appreciated the efforts of volunteers, including individuals, families, and volunteer teams participating in the event, during which they provided about 1260 volunteer hours, praising the efforts of the Emirates Association for the Visually Impaired, and appreciating their great role in promoting the culture of volunteering and community service at the level of the UAE.
She also affirmed the centre's commitment to achieving the emirate's vision of serving the community and enhancing institutional integration.
