Approximately 4,000 volunteers were recruited by the centre to assist in packing relief supplies and organising food items, totaling 7,500 packages, all of which took place at the Expo Centre Sharjah exhibition hall. In addition, volunteers from other organisations, including the Sharjah Charity International and the Big Heart Foundation, also participated.
As for the fundraising efforts, the campaign kicked off on October 18th and will continue until the 27th of this month. It is being carried out in various cities across the emirate, such as Sharjah, Khorfakkan, Dibba Al Hisn, and Al Hamriyah. Around 225 volunteers have dedicated a collective 3,080 hours of volunteer work over the course of a full week to collect donations and relief packages.
On this occasion, Hessa Al Hammadi, Director of the Department of Community Cohesion at SSSD, underscored that the campaign is part of the country's broader humanitarian endeavours and is being conducted in partnership with the Sharjah Charity International, the Big Heart Foundation, and the Emirates Red Crescent in Sharjah. Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is contributing to these efforts. Hessa Al Hammadi stressed the significance of this collaborative institutional approach in providing urgent assistance to the Palestinian people, with the shared aim of alleviating their suffering, providing necessities and delivering healthcare.
