SEC restructures the Standing Committee for Social Welfare

Sharjah24: Under the chairmanship of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler, Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, the Council issued a decision to form the Standing Committee for Socially Disadvantaged Persons.
The restructuring of the committee was headed by Judge Salem Ali Matar Al Hosani; Major General Saif Mohammed Al Zari Al Shamsi, as Vice-Chairman of the Committee; the First Public Advocate Anwar Amin Al Harmoudi, as a member of the Committee; Dr. Abdullah Sulaiman Al Kaboori, as a member; and Moudi bint Mohammed Al Shamsi, Member of the Committee; Mohammed Abdullah Al Zarouni, Member of the Committee; Brigadier General Jamal Fadel Al Abdouli, Member of the Committee; and Afaf Ibrahim Al Marri, Member and Rapporteur of the Committee.

The term of membership in the committee shall be three years, starting from the date of formation, and may be extended for a similar period or periods. The committee shall continue to carry out its work upon the expiration of its term until a new committee is formed, and those whose membership term has expired may be reappointed.

In this context, Judge Salem Ali Matar Al Hosani, Chairman of the Committee, extended his thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and to Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler, Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, for the wise vision and continuous guidance that will contribute to achieving progress and well-being for society and preserve the rights of those without social care.

In the same context, Judge Salem Ali Matar Al Hosani welcomed Dr. Abdullah Sulaiman Al Kabouri, Director of the Sharjah Districts and Villages Affairs Department (SDVAD), as a new member of the committee, wishing him success in serving those who have lost care. The Chairman of the Committee also expressed his thanks to Khamis bin Salem Al Suwaidi, for his membership in the previous committee, praising the efforts and diligence that he exerted throughout the committee’s work.

Judge Salem Ali Matar Al Hosani pointed out that this constructive step reflects the Emirate of Sharjah’s commitment to caring for all segments of society and providing the necessary support to groups lacking social care.

At its meeting, the committee discussed many sensitive social issues on its agenda, and within the framework of preserving the safety of children, the committee noted cases of children falling from residential buildings, stressing the need not to leave children alone as it puts their safety at risk, and the committee called on tenants to adhere to security procedures and enhance landlords’ awareness of the principles of safety in buildings and homes, in order to ensure a safe and healthy environment in the community.

The Committee stressed the importance of strengthening preventive and awareness-raising measures, in addition to the necessary punitive measures to protect children and ensure their safety.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee directed a review of the policy of fostering alternative families and the mechanism for periodic follow-ups.
