Sharjah24: The Sharjah Police participated in the “White Cane” march organized by the Emirates Association for the Visually Impaired at Al Majaz Waterfront in coinciding with the country’s celebrations of White Cane Safety Day, in order to enhance awareness of the importance of this day, which marks the efforts made by the United Arab Emirates to empower people with visual disabilities and support their integration into society.
The participation of Sharjah Police came with the aim of highlighting the efforts in supporting this segment of society and to demonstrate their achievements to enhance their quality of life, and provide them with a safe and comfortable environment.
The celebration was attended by Colonel Jassim Mohammed Bakhit Al Suwaidi - Head of the Community Police Department, Adel Al Zumar - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Association for the Visually Impaired accompanied by members of the Board of Directors, a group of representatives of community bodies, educational institutions and school students, along with a number of Sharjah Police cadres and the musical band.
On this occasion ,Colonel Al Suwaidi said: “The participation of the Sharjah Police General Command in International White Cane Day reinforces the concept of the community message that aims to take part in various occasions and forums, and confirms the Sharjah Police’s interest in raising awareness of the issues of the blind, and the importance of the humanitarian and societal role of community members in dealing with them.”
