Sharjah24: In an effort to increase awareness of parliamentary culture among children, Sharjah Children, affiliated with the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators organised a number of training workshops for members of the Sharjah Children’s Shura in its seventeenth session, in the two children’s centres in Al-Raqqa and Al Bataeh regions.

Somaya Al Zarouni, Senior Activities Executive at Sharjah Children, presented an effective communication skills workshop. The workshop included a group of interactive activities with the aim of developing children’s abilities and parliamentary skills.

Dr. Lamia’a Tawfiq, a childhood studies specialist and storyteller, also delivered an introduction workshop on food security, with spreading awareness about its importance, as well as showcasing the UAE's efforts to improve food security through several implemented projects.

The workshop also emphasised the importance of each individual's responsibility in ensuring food security by obeying the country's instructions and laws. It concluded with a practical application on how to farm and how to take care of it.

By holding these workshops for members of the Sharjah Children’s Shura, Sharjah Children seeks to develop parliamentary work skills and develop affiliates’ skills in communication and dialogue.

"The Sharjah Children's Shura is one of the initiatives of Sharjah Children, a subsidiary of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators. This unique council was established based on the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in 1997, with the aim of educating children about parliamentarism  in the country.
