Sharjah24: The Sharjah Sports Club won the Union Judo Cup finals. They triumphed over 245 competitors from nine different clubs and academies in the United Arab Emirates to claim victory in the young category of a competition held at the Sharjah Sports Club's sports hall.
The club's junior team won the event overall, taking home a total of seven medals (five gold and two bronze). The junior category finished second overall, winning a total of six medals (2 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze).
The club's champions got off to a great start to the new season by sweeping both cups in a tournament that comprised 245 players from six teams throughout the nation and three academies.
Engineer Hamaid Shamis Al-Zarouni, a member of the Individual Games Management and the sport's supervisor, lauded the success of the Judo team, praising the hard work of the coaches and players during the summer. He gave credit for the early season success to the Individual Games Management's encouragement and strategic guidance, praising the players' excellent morale and battle performance.
He emphasised that we are only getting started with the season and that there are many competitions to come. He promised that the team would put in the necessary time and effort in practice and competition to sustain their great achievements and win the forthcoming UAE Champions tournament.
