Sharjah 24: The Health Promotion Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA) in Sharjah participated in the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) held at the Expo Centre Sharjah, through an educational session entitled “Health Media” presented by Dr. Adel Al Sajwani, Family Medicine Consultant.
The session was in implementation of the recommendations of the Ninth “My Health” Conference, organised by Health Promotion Department in 2022, which is the largest health event in Sharjah, where contemporary health issues were discussed and a number of recommendations were made, including “Harnessing digital health to reach the goals of sustainable development by intensifying community health awareness.”
The session, which was attended by more than 70 people, addressed several topics, including the status of digital health media globally and locally, how to benefit from digital health media and implement it within society.
The session also tackled ways to encourage and prepare specialised professionals in the digital health field, and the challenges of digital health in the next ten years, considering digital media a means of to reach a larger segment of society.
Her Excellency Iman Rashid Saif, Director of the Health Promotion Department at SCFA, confirmed that IGCF is an ideal opportunity and a model platform, as it is considered a gateway to meeting experiences and learning about the best local and international practices.
Her Excellency Iman Rashid Saif added that the Health Promotion Department was keen to choose IGCF as a platform to present the health media session.
Her Excellency Iman Rashid Saif concluded by saying that health media is one of the most important contemporary topics to be discussed in the published content on social networking sites, as digital media is considered a double-edged sword with the wide spread of content and its ease of access to all segments of society.
