Sharjah 24: Officials and experts have emphasised the critical importance of governments prioritising measures that promote mental health and quality of life for their populations, owing to their enormous impact on economic development and social stability.
A high-level panel discussion on quality of life and mental health took place in the Department of Statistics and Community Development Hall on the final day of the 12th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF), involving several government officials and specialists in human and societal development.
Among them was Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, CEO of the Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club and founder and chairman of the Sharjah Paintball Park.
Sheikh Mohammed emphasised the session's goal of raising awareness about the importance of mental health in people's lives and its impact on quality of life, which in turn influences productivity, income, and the broader economy.
He emphasised the government's role in spreading awareness of mental health and the importance of individuals recognising its importance, and he praised the forum's audience for their active participation.
Dr Khaled Ghattas, a well-known social media influencer, stated that the UAE is at the forefront of countries that prioritise their citizens' mental health.
He ascribed this to the country's commitment to promote tolerance and happy values, beliefs, and techniques. Ghattas emphasised the tight relationship between the population's mental well-being and quality of life on the one hand and society's stability and economic prosperity on the other.
The IGCF debates highlighted the rising acknowledgment of the vital role that mental health plays in shaping societies and economies, emphasising the importance of continuing efforts to prioritise mental health alongside physical well-being.
