Sharjah24: The Mauritanian Literature Festival will be launched in Nouakchott under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, as part of a collaborative effort between the Sharjah Department of Culture, the Mauritanian Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports, and the Parliament of Mauritania.
The Sharjah Department of Culture and the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication will co-host the fifth annual Moroccan Poets Festival in Tétouan, Morocco.
The Mauritanian Literature Festival will be held from the 12th to the 14th of this month to commemorate Nouakchott's designation as the Capital of Islamic Culture in 2023. The Moroccan Poets Festival will thereafter take place for three days, from the 15th to the 17th of this month.
"The Department of Culture's longstanding partnership with Mauritania is celebrated annually at the Mauritanian Literature Festival," said Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Owais, the Department of Culture's Head.
One of the outcomes of this partnership was the establishment of the House of Poetry in Nouakchott, which has become a cultural portal to local, Arab, and African viewpoints for many creative individuals."
According to Al Owais, experts will examine the growth of Mauritanian literature during the Mauritanian Literary Festival.
The poetry houses in the Arab world, continuously supported by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, affirm their vitality in cultural work," Al Owais said of the Moroccan Poets Festival.
This is highlighted by this festival, which is jam-packed with activities and is run by Tétouan's House of Poetry.
"During the festival days," Al Owais explained, "the audience can expect to interact with more than 30 Moroccan poets and writers who will present poetry evenings, literary seminars, and artistic sessions."
