Sharjah24: Recording an unprecedented historical achievement, the golden boy, Salem Abdulrahman, concluded his successful journey in the World Chess Championship organised in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, after making it to the 16-player final round out of 206 competitors from 176 nations.
The Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, in collaboration with the Sharjah Sports Council, had prepared a special training camp (200 hours) during which the golden boy Salem Abdel Rahman was well prepared for the tournament, as well as hiring the outstanding international coach, Sojko Bartosz, who accompanied the player throughout his career in the international forum.
The player has accomplished the best position attained by an Emirati and Arab player in the World Cup competitions' history.
For his part, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Cultural Chess Club, affirmed that the achievement of Salem Abdulrahman is a source of pride and happiness for every Emirati, promoting the country's achievements at various levels and highlighting the wise leadership's approach to investing in citizens.
Motivating the player towards achieving further accomplishment, His Excellency wished the player to continue his series of global achievements in international forums, contributing to raising the name of the UAE in major tournaments.
