Sharjah24: The "Al-Fatameen (Weanling)" race competitions, which took place at Al Dhaid Camel Racing Track, were successfully concluded under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The event was organised by the Sharjah Camel Racing Club and spanned over seven months.
The races featured 20 rounds of the "Fatameen (Weanling)" category, where camels owned by tribes from the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries participated every Sunday morning, covering a distance of 1500 meters.
Mr. Matar Ali bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, highlighted the significance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammed Al-Qasimi's sponsorship for the races, reflecting his ongoing dedication to camel racing sports. This support has led to remarkable progress and developments in the sport in recent years. The Fatameen (Weanling) race has become a significant addition to the annual festivals and races organised by the Sharjah Camel Racing Club, attracting enthusiastic participation from camel owners representing various tribes from the UAE and the Gulf region. This success encourages the organisation of more races and events dedicated to camel racing.
Mr. Matar Ali bin Hweidan Al-Ketbi further explained that the "San Al-Fatameen" race started in mid-January 2023 and continued until the end of August 2023 at Al Dhaid Camel Racing Track. Each week's race on Sunday mornings featured 20 rounds of the "San Al-Fatameen" category, covering a distance of 1500 meters for the participating camels. Additionally, the "San Al-Fatameen" race competitions were held at Al Rashidiya Track in Al Batayeh area every Saturday, featuring six rounds covering a distance of 1200 meters for the camels of the tribes.
