Sharjah24: Sharjah Museums Authority is launching its series of summer events and programmes to offer a blend of educational and recreational activities to the wider community, creating an environment where participants can broaden their knowledge, hone their abilities, and discover untapped talents during the summer break.
The summer event list features an array of creatively-designed workshops, lectures, and interactive sessions that are planned to arouse individual curiosity and foster a love for learning and exploration, in tune with the Authority's core mission – to act as a teaching ground for today's children and future generations.

Among the offerings is the community program, "Hijri New Year", which is targeted at 6-12 year-olds and will take place on July 19 at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization to educate its participants about the Hijri calendar through a series of workshops.

From July 17 to  July 30, Sharjah Aquarium invites children to participate in a variety of educational and entertaining workshops and activities. These are part of the "Our Cool Summer” event which is designed to enhance their understanding of marine life. The event allows participating children to delve into the history of maritime exploration and also provides them with the unique opportunity to observe divers feeding fish of various sizes.

From July 31 to August 7, the Sharjah Aquarium will allow children aged 6-12 to explore the life of a marine biologist through a professional program. This includes learning about marine creature care and conducting water quality laboratory tests.

On August 1, a lecture under the name "Portuguese Invasion of the Gulf" will be organised at the Resistance Monument, spotlighting the events of the invasion, the resistance of Khorfakkan's people, and the unity of tribes in safeguarding their region.

Throughout the month of August, Sharjah Science Museum invites children to join and be welcomed by a friendly robot that will guide them around the scientific exhibits.

They can also participate in a multitude of events and workshops such as “Sustainability is a Lifestyle”, “My Environment is My Responsibility”, and “Sustainable Environment”. They can also enjoy engaging scientific shows like the “Sound Show”, “Laser Show” and “Planetarium Shows”.

Sharjah Calligraphy Museum is scheduling its program "Little Calligrapher" from August 7 to 10, offering young people aged 13-17 a chance to learn the foundations of calligraphy. Also, from September 4 to 30, the museum will host a beginner's course in “Al Diwani Al Jali” script-writing for individuals aged 19-59.

From August 14 to 17, Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, Sharjah Archeology Museum, and Sharjah Aquarium are opening their doors to 13-17 year-olds as part of the "Sharjah Museums Ambassadors" program which emphasizes the significant role of museum guides and seeks to foster a deeper appreciation for this field.

Additionally, a comprehensive lecture on the history of pearls in the Emirates is being held for individuals aged 18-59 at the Sharjah Maritime Museum on September 13.

Sharjah Museums Authority has opened registrations for its Happy Holiday Camp the first phase of which is slated to commence from July 10 to 20 at several venues: the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, Sharjah Science Museum, Sharjah Aquarium, and Sharjah Maritime Museum.

The second phase, beginning on July 24 and ending on August 3, will be held at the Sharjah Archeology Museum, Sharjah Art Museum, and Al Mahatta Museum.

The camp incorporates a diverse selection of programs and activities designed to foster participant abilities, heighten awareness, and boost cultural understanding in a fun and engaging manner. These include learning about different types of ships, fishing methods, and stargazing techniques.

Participants will also gain insights into the achievements of Muslim scientists in astronomy and engineering, alongside workshops on sound sources, wind speed measurement activities, and sensory exploration exercises.

More activities about aviation, marine life, and archaeological finds in the region such as buildings, forts, and ancient coins discovered in Sharjah will also be part of the programs held at the participating museums.

Those interested in registering can do so via the Authority's website where they can find more information about all the summer activities and the camp.

They can select and register for the events that pique their interest the most.
