Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) presented a package of events and activities to celebrate the International Museum Day, which falls on May 18 each year, with the aim of highlighting the role of museums in societies and raising awareness of the importance of preserving cultural heritage and history.
Shamma Musabeh Al Ketbi, Marketing and Communication Department Manager at SMA, told “Sharjah 24” that these events, which rum from 18 to 25 May, include, in the first day, a virtual conference on the role of digital transformation of collections in museums and cultural institutions towards sustainable development of our societies, through the visual communication platform "Zoom". A large number of experts and specialists in the field participated in the conference during which the latest developments and innovations in the field of digital preservation were discussed.
Al Ketbi added that various creative, artistic and educational workshops that benefit a large number of society groups are held in the SMA’s branches, all of which aim to enhance creativity in the use of old and modern smart systems among the public.
Entry will be free to all museums affiliated with the Sharjah Museums Authority on May 18, 2023, in celebration of International Museum Day.
