Sharjah24: Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, received the Chairman and members of the Sharjah Electoral Committee for the 2023 Federal National Council (FNC) elections on Tuesday morning at the ruler’s office.
He warmly welcomed the committee, led by Chairman Counselor Issa Saeed bin Handhal, and expressed the leadership's full support for the electoral process and those involved. This process grants citizens the right to participate in national responsibilities and decision-making, thereby contributing to the overall advancement and preservation of the values of Emirati society.
The Deputy Ruler of Sharjah urged all voters and candidates in the emirate to collaborate in order to present an exemplary image that reflects the development and active participation in decision-making within the United Arab Emirates during the electoral process. He emphasised the importance of following the established plans to effectively engage citizens and stressed the significance of promoting the electoral culture within Emirati society.
During the meeting, His Highness familiarised himself with the committee's responsibilities, including the technical and administrative aspects of conducting the elections in the Emirate of Sharjah. This encompassed selecting the committee's electoral headquarters, polling stations, and ensuring a smooth voting process across different cities and regions of the emirate. These measures aim to ensure a successful electoral experience in line with the wise vision of the leadership.
The Sharjah Electoral Committee, as one of the committees representing the executive body of the National Election Committee, works in coordination with the Election Management Committee at the national level to fulfill its role in the United Arab Emirates.

The members of the Electoral Committee of Sharjah expressed their appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi for his warm reception and support to the committee. They also acknowledged his guidance in ensuring the successful implementation of the electoral process in the Emirate.
The National Election Committee had officially approved the electoral bodies' lists for all the emirates of the country for the upcoming 2023 Federal National Council elections. These lists comprised a total of 398,879 members across the nation, with 72,946 members hailing from the Emirate of Sharjah. The nomination period for the elections will commence on August 15th. Additionally, early voting will take place on October 4th and 5th, utilising a hybrid voting system that includes both in-person voting at designated polling centers and remote voting through the internet.

On October 6th, remote voting alone will be allowed, enabling voters to cast their ballots from any location, whether inside or outside the country, using the digital applications determined by the National Election Committee. Lastly, October 7th has been designated as the main election day, during which voters will be able to participate in the electoral process at designated polling centers through either the electronic voting system or "remote voting" via the internet.
