Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Municipality (SM) is increasing awareness and inspections concerning jet skis. In the summer, many people who enjoy being near the water go jet skiing. The SM stressed sportsmanship and caution.
The SM would want to see greater education and regulation of jet skiing. So that everyone could feel safe taking part, the SM tightened controls and monitoring.
The Acting Director of the Inspection and Control Department, Khalifa Buganem Al Suwaidi, recently spoke about the SM's attempts to supervise jet skiing. Regulatory, legal, and safety inspection teams have been dispatched.
When jet skiing, it is important to keep an eye out for obstacles and other vehicles. The SM has issued a warning to jet skiers about disturbing swimmers and tourists, producing too much noise that might disturb larger boats and sailing vessels, and contaminating the water.
The local government stresses the use of life jackets, defensive driving, and jet skiing within designated areas. Jet skis rented from companies must be registered and numbered.
In addition, landlords have responsibilities for cleanliness, not renting to minors, collecting sufficient information from renters, prohibiting rentals after dark, and dealing with reckless conduct.
To ensure the public's safety, the SM has placed rescue teams at Al Mamzar Beach, where jet skiing is permitted. Teams are prepared to respond to any emergency.
The SM has made it a priority to ensure that jet skiing is legal, enjoyable, and respectful of the environment.
