Khalifa: 110 MM. refugees and displaced persons worldwide

Speaking exclusively to “Sharjah24”, he stressed that the 7th edition of the Sharjah International Award for Refugee Advocacy and Support (SIARA 2023) comes at a critical time. as the number of refugees and internally displaced persons has reached more than 110 million people, representing more than 1% of the world's population.

In his remarks, Khalifa underlined the need of refugees for all kinds of support from all the relevant entities, such as the Big Heart Foundation (TBHF), a Sharjah-based global humanitarian organisation dedicated to supporting refugees and people in need worldwide. He explained that the Award serves as an incentive for all humanitarian actors, aiming to identify best practices and addressing refugee issues with long-term solutions.
