UOS conducts surgical skills for healthcare professionals course

Sharjah24: The Clinical Training Centre and Sharjah Surgical Institute at the University of Sharjah (UOS) conducted the Surgical Skills for Students and Healthcare Professional (SSSHP) Course, accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. The course aims to help participants to learn and practice safe surgical techniques throughout their careers. The whole curriculum includes a secure set of aseptic techniques, identify principles for the safe use of local anesthetic techniques, recognize the role of a basic set of instruments, demonstrate safe use of surgical instruments, surgical knots securely, close a wound properly, and handle tissue safely.
Prof. Qutayba Hamid, Vice Chancellor for Medical Colleges and Health Sciences and Dean of College of Medicine was delighted and said:” We are pleased to conduct SSSHP Course for the first time at our center by highly expert and qualified faculties from various specialization, in collaboration with RCS England, with the aim of providing quality medical education to Professionals and students from various medical colleges.”

Prof. Nabil Sulaiman, Director of Clinical Training Centre and Sharjah Surgical Institute expressed his happiness over conducting the course, stressing the institute’s keenness to conduct such initiatives to strengthen healthcare professionals’ communities, and become among the best Surgical Institutes in the Mena Region and beyond.

Dr. Ali Al Hassani, Course Director, pointed out that this course will open doors for the future careers of students and will enhance their knowledge and skills in surgical practice. In addition, it will help them to practice in a safe surgical environment and prepare them for future surgical residency programs.
