Sharjah24: Sharjah Municipality (SM’s) continuous inspection visits assured the commitment of several food facilities to issue the necessary permits that guarantee providing their services in accordance with the conditions and standards set by the Municipality during the holy month of Ramadan.
Adel Omar Salem, Acting Director of Public Health and Central Laboratories at the Municipality of Sharjah, confirmed that the Municipality has intensified its inspection visits since the beginning of Ramadan, following up on the work of more than 1,500 food establishments, witnessing great demand from the public during the holy month. The gesture comes to ensure that the food facilities provide its services in accordance with health standards. The Municipality also confirmed that during the specialised visits, the inspection teams have ensured that all the necessary permits are issued for establishments that provide services to non-Muslim communities during the day in Ramadan, as well as the establishments that display food items outside during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
He stated that since the beginning of Ramadan, the Municipality has issued 458 permits to sell food to non-Muslim communities during the day in Ramadan, with allowing the establishments to operate in accordance with a set of criteria set by the Municipality. He also added that 166 permits have been issued for several restaurants to display food outside.
The Municipality took the necessary measures against the facilities that did not comply with the safety procedures.
