The tour was part of the GCD's efforts and brief to build a curriculum and interactive communication that showcases Sharjah and highlights its positive vision and policies and initiatives in various sectors, especially in eco-tourism.
The GCD organised an introductory meeting for members of the Government Communication Network (GCN) about the Sharjah Safari located in the Bardi Reserve in Al Dhaid, as it is one of the most important sustainability projects in Sharjah, and serves the emirate's goals in protecting wildlife and preserving the ecosystem.
Such familiarisation tours are important in view of the role of the Network in promoting and consolidating relations between various government institutions and departments, and work together to promote and showcase the Emirate locally, regionally and internationally, which enhances the delivery of Sharjah's development and sustainable strategies to the countries around the world, stressed Huda Al Dah, Manager, Government Communication Department, SGMB.

She added: "The meetings of the members of the Government Communication Network are diverse in sectors and have multiple objectives. But all of them serve the Emirate's agenda and policies by allocating interactive spaces among the members of the Network, whether through training workshops, lectures, or even familiarisation trips, to act as spaces for brainstorming and exchanging experiences indirectly develop methods of communication and dissemination of information in a smooth and attractive manner and are capable of establishing social awareness in various fields.”

Al Dah added, "The Sharjah Safari tour of GCN members included the tourism and knowledge aspects, with a distinctive adventure in the midst of wetlands, canyons, valleys, small lakes, waterfalls, rocky mountains, and vast areas on an area of 8,000 hectares. The Network members learnt about 12 different environments inspired from all over Africa and learned about their characteristics. They also learned about 120 species of local animals and rare African animals, including the black rhinoceros, and about 1000 local and African trees and rare ones, and the members of the network realised the great role of the reserve in preserving the life of a number of endangered animals and its role in preserving biodiversity.”

The Network members enjoyed the unique natural and tourist attractions offered by the Sharjah Safari, beginning their tour with the sounds of more than 60 species of African birds. They took on the challenge of entering the thorny forests. In the savannah environment, specifically the Serengeti region, they encountered a group of the fiercest animals in the Sharjah Safari up close and personal. They enjoyed a pleasant atmosphere in the Ngorongoro area, formed by an extinct crater, and boasts a unique ecosystem and home to some of Africa’s most iconic species.

The members also got to learn about the Moremi region, inspired by the canyons and valleys of southwest Africa formed over centuries by monsoon rains. The tour also included a visit to the Sahel, an area rich in wildlife between the Sahara desert in the north and the savannah to the south.
