Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) and the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre (Sheraa) unveiled, on Tuesday, the first Augmented Reality (AR) experience in the UAE at the Resistance Monument in Khorfakkan.
Many government officials and representatives were on hand for the launch, including Dr. Rashid Khamis Al Naqbi, Chairman of the Khorfakkan Municipal Council, Sultan Yaqoub Al Mansouri, Director of the Amiri Diwan in Khorfakkan, Manal Ataya, Director General of the Sharjah Museums Authority, Najla Al Midfa, CEO of the Sharjah Centre for Entrepreneurship (Sheraa), and many others.
Ataya said that this initiative, which involves the Ministry of Culture and Youth, Air Arabia, and the Sharjah Centre for Entrepreneurship (Sheraa), is the first of its type in the country.
She also said to "Sharjah 24" that the project's goal is to make it easier for tourists, especially children and teenagers, to learn about the history of Khorfakkan's resistance against the Portuguese invasion via the use of cutting-edge technology.
Ataya said she hoped the new technology will be used at museums around Sharjah since it is a great opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue with museumgoers.
