Sharjah24: The Arab Heritage Center of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage held a workshop tp build the skills of workers in order to register the Emirati cultural heritage in the World Heritage List.
The workshop was presented by Prof. Dr. Abdulaziz Salah Salem, the international expert in heritage and head of the Department of Islamic Archeology at the Faculty of Archeology at Cairo University.
The workshop came within the activities of Sharjah Heritage Days (SHD) in its twentieth session, which is currently being held in the Emirate of Sharjah and will continue until March 22.
In this context, Dr. Abdulaziz Salem said that the United Arab Emirates is rich in many cultural, heritage and natural sites, and this cultural heritage possesses exceptional global value, and therefore the cultural heritage deserves to be included in the representative list of the elements of the world cultural heritage (UNESCO).
The workshop dealt with a number of important topics that focused on defining the stages of inclusion in the World Heritage List, showing the most important features and advantages of the UAE's global cultural heritage, and then referring to the opportunities available to the country to register its cultural sites in the World Heritage List.
The workshop included training the participants to prepare the nomination file and the most important criteria for nomination in the global list, in addition to training them on how to prepare the preliminary list files to register the 14 sites hosted in the UAE.
The lecturer praised the efforts of the UAE in this aspect, especially the efforts of the Emirate of Sharjah under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Sharjah , whose enlightened vision contributed to advancing progress and development and protecting cultural heritage in Sharjah.
On the other hand, the Bait Al Naboodah Museum witnessed the signing of Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Salem for his new book, which was titled (Arabian Equestrian... A New Vision in its Cultural Heritage and Folklore).
