Sharjah24: The Committee of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Municipalities, Security Affairs and Public Utilities of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) met with His Excellency Talib Al-Marri, Director General of the Department of Awqaf, and reviewed various endowment projects and advanced services provided by the department within the framework of its various policies.

This came during the committee's visit to the headquarters of the Awqaf Department in Sharjah, as part of its work for the fourth regular session of the tenth legislative term.

The meeting comes in the context of the Committee's keenness to communicate with all government departments in order to consolidate the roles of the SCC in the framework of informing and supporting the roles of the departments to enable them to continue their efforts and improve their services.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Obaid Awad Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Committee, His Excellency Ahmed Rashid Ali Al Naqbi, His Excellency Ali Saif Al Nadas, His Excellency Awad Rashid Al Tunaiji, and His Excellency Awad Rashed Al Tunaiji.

The Council's delegation, accompanied by His Excellency Talib Al-Marri, Director General of the Awqaf Department, received Sheikh Dr. Aziz bin Farhan Al-Anzi, the Sharia advisor in the department, and the directors and heads of departments .

His Excellency Talib Al-Marri, Director General of the Awqaf Department, expressed his great welcome to the visit of the Sharjah Consultative Council delegation from the Utilities Committee, stressing that the department seeks to continue its efforts in developing its services system and keeping pace with the requirements of the development process based on the directives of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and the development of its banks and financial resources.

In turn, His Excellency Obaid Awad Al-Tunaiji, Chairman of the Committee, conveyed the greetings of the Chairman of the Council, the Vice-Chairman, the Secretary-General and members to the Director-General and his assistants and all the cadres of the department for their efforts in providing a suitable environment for achieving more achievements in the development of the endowment and the funds of endowers in accordance with the purposes of Islamic law.

After that, the department presented an explanation of its efforts to promote work on the development of the endowment in the Emirate of Sharjah. Through the explanation, it touched on the work of the supervision that the department undertakes over the endowments, its care, investment, management of its funds, and the disbursement of its proceeds within the limits of the conditions of the endower.

After that, the members of the  Council from the Public Utilities Committee took turns presenting a number of topics related to the development of the services of the Department and its roles in developing the endowment and its revenues, as well as the efforts exerted to encourage the community to do charitable works in the field of endowment.

During the discussion, they touched on a number of questions, which included some issues and inquiries related to the work of the department, and an explanation of its role in facilitating the participation of individuals in the endowment, managing endowment assets, investing endowment funds, and media publication of these endowment works.
