The campaign, which aims to enable the community to preserve the environment, continues in a distinguished event that indicates the continuity of the campaign for twenty-one years, until December 15, and also aims to promote sustainable development and recycling in the UAE society.
The campaign saw the participation of 928 male and female students and others disabilities, and a number of government and private academic institutions, government agencies, companies, families, and individuals, and they all integrated remarkably during the campaign, and provided society with a fine model in preserving the environment and proved that they are able to assume social responsibility.
During the two decades, "Clean up UAE" recorded the participation of 849,228 people from various sectors of society, who succeeded in collecting 1,568,896 kilograms of waste and cleaning an area of 1,008 square kilometers.
Habiba Al Marashi, founding member and chair of the group, said, “What started as a small call to community action has become very popular and has managed to reach the national level. The campaign has attracted and received a great deal of interest from all sectors of society. Over the years, this campaign has grown to become the most popular and hands-on program among conservation enthusiasts in the country.”
She expressed gratitude to participants who have joined the campaign including individuals and families from different backgrounds, as well as private companies, government institutions, academia, and other stakeholders.
