UOS receives Australian delegation and inks 2 pacts

Sharjah24: Prof. Youssef Al Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, University of Sharjah (UOS) received a delegation from Australia, with the aim of participating in a number of research activities, in addition to signing two Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with the University.
The delegation consisted of Prof. Talal Yusaf, Executive Dean, Higher Education and Emerging Technologies, Aviation Australia, and prof. Steve Hall, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology at Central Queensland University (CQU), Australia.

The MoU was signed with Aviation Australia by Prof. Youssef Al Haik, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs on behalf of UoS, and by Prof. Talal Yusaf, Executive Dean, Higher Education and Emerging Technologies on behalf of Aviation Australia. The MoU aimed at developing aviation education, cooperating  in joint scientific research, developing scientific curricula, and providing training opportunities. 

In addition, the UoS’s Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs signed an MoU with the CQU, which was also signed by prof. Steve Hall, Dean of the School of Engineering and Technology at CQU, Australia. The MoU stipulates the exchange of knowledge to enhance collaboration in organizing activities that strengthen and support the development of sustainable communities. In addition to collaboration in the field of education, learning, employment, offering grants, funding for joint research, supervision of higher degree candidates, delivery of continuing professional development, consultancy work, social innovation focused initiatives, study tours and summer schools, exchange of students and faculty members. 

During the visit, Prof. Talal Yusaf delivered a number of lectures as a part of the research fair webinar series and the research seminar organized by the Research Outreach Department through the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies, in which he delivered a lecture entitled “Aviation 4.0 Challenges and Opportunities” in the presence of a number of UoS’s faculty members, where he highlighted aviation 4.0 that is built on industry 4.0 and focuses on digital and advanced technologies that provide enhanced safety and more efficient operations in the Aviation industry, as well as presented the future aviation training technologies and programs in the world of the fourth industrial revolution. In addition, he delivered a lecture on Graduate students research to highlight the challenges that may constitute the basis of master/Ph.D. thesis proposals, in the presence of a large number of students.

The meeting was attended by Prof. Raafat El-Awady, Dean of College of  Graduate Studies, Prof. Abbes Amira, Dean of College of Computing and Informatics, Dr. Mohamed Al Hemairy, Head of Technology Transfer Office, Dr. Manar Abu Talib, Chair of Research Outreach Department and a number of department’s heads and UoS’s faculty members. The Australian delegation consisted of Ms. Donna Massie, Trade and Investment Commissioner, Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region, and Mr. David Hackett, Senior Business Development Manager, MENA Region.
