Sharjah24: The Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial rolled down the curtain on the activities of its tenth edition on November 30.
Organised by Sharjah Department of Culture, the event attracted nearly 25 thousand visitors of various nationalities who toured over 57 days between 20 institutions in Sharjah, to follow up on more than 718 works of art by 231 artists representing 27 countries.

Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qassir, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture, and Director of the Biennial, stated that the tenth edition translated the wise vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, highlighting Arabic calligraphy as a historical Islamic art and an aesthetic component based on a comprehensive creative vision of Emirati, Arab, and foreign artists.

Significant figures in Arabic calligraphy were honoured, including Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention and Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, the Egyptian artist Hamdi Zayed, and the late Iraqi calligrapher Sadiq Ali al Douri, in appreciation and honor for their creative artworks.

The organisers honoured the winners, in all of the Biennial's categories, during the finale’s ceremony.
