Sharjah 24: The Family Affairs Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) reviewed the various roles and tasks of the Sharjah Police General Command in the field of community policing.
The visit to the Sharjah Police came within the framework of the Family Affairs Committee’s plan as part of its work for the fourth regular session of the tenth legislative term, with the aim of integrating efforts to the care of family members, with protecting them from negative influences and inappropriate behaviour.
The Council's delegation from the Family Affairs Committee included Her Excellency Fatima Ali Al Muhairi, Chairperson of the Committee, and several other dignitaries.
The delegation was welcomed by Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, His Excellency Brigadier General Ahmed Haji Al Serkal, Director General of Police Operations at the Sharjah Police, Brigadier General Ibrahim Musabah Al Ajal, Deputy Director General of Police Operations at Sharjah Police, and a number of officers from various police departments.
At the beginning of the visit, His Excellency Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer and his deputies, welcomed the visiting delegation from the Family Affairs Committee.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed about the efforts of the Sharjah Police General Command in combating drugs, highlighting their efforts in dealing with the modern methods used by drug traffickers, aiming to protect society members.
Then an expanded meeting took place at the Future Hall of the Sharjah Police General Headquarters, during which the delegation was briefed on the work of the Sharjah Police and their efforts in ensuring stability in the emirate. They were also briefed on the efforts made by the Community Police Department to communicate with the public in order to activate the principle of community policing between the police and community members.
The visiting delegation also reviewed the statistics and achievements of the Community Police Department and its various efforts, especially in the framework of its constant communication with the suburban councils in the Emirate of Sharjah and direct coordination with government and private entities, aiming to raise people’s awareness about the dangers of many behaviours, addressing societal problems in a way that enhances trust between police members and community segments.
During the meeting, the members of Family Affairs Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council recommended a number of proposals aimed at strengthening the roles of the community police.
At the end of the visit, Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, presented a memorial shield to the Family Affairs Committee of the Sharjah Consultative Council, in appreciation of its permanent role in communicating with the Sharjah Police General Command.
In her turn, Her Excellency Fatima Ali Al Muhairi, Chairperson of the Family Affairs Committee, expressed her thanks to the General Command for welcoming them and briefing them about the roles of the community police and their remarkable efforts with all other departments in the police, lauding their work in achieving community security and stability. She has further highlighted the community police works in various areas, contributing in ensuring safety for all the citizens and residents in the emirate.
