Sharjah 24: The fourth Ajyal Festival organised by the Elderly Services Centre of the Sharjah Social Services Department (SSSD), in cooperation with the Sharjah Municipality, kicked off, on Thursday, and its activities will continue from the 17th to the 20th of this month.
The festival is held in Al Mowafjah Park in Sharjah, from 4pm until 10 pm, with the support of volunteers from the Sharjah Centre for Voluntary Work.
Kholoud Al Ali, Director of the Elderly Services Centre, stated that the festival is an entertaining and educational festival that aims to enhance the process of integration and communication between generations.
Al Ali praised the participation of more than 7 government institutions and local departments, each of which presented entertainment, awareness, heritage, and artistic programmes.
The participating parties are, Sharjah Civil Defence, Sharjah Police, Sharjah Municipality, Sharjah Education Council, Sharjah Museums Authority and National Ambulance, in addition to the participation of many Arab folklore troupes. The Intaj Centre of the SSSD also participated in the festival, with its members from families displaying their various products of clothing, perfumes, food and household items.
Al Ali called on families to participate in the festival and to benefit from the programmes, events, competitions and gifts that will be distributed to children throughout the days of the festival, and most importantly, meeting with the elderly, engaging in conversations with them, and participating in events to make them feel the importance of their great presence in society.
