Sharjah24: His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Monday chaired the meeting of the Board of Trustees of Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA), at the Academy building in University City in Sharjah.
At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah welcomed the attendance of members of the Board of Trustees, stressing the main role of the Academy as a major cultural and artistic project, and its importance in working with effort and seriousness in developing various scientific and practical aspects, and developing various programmes related to Arab culture so that it can graduate qualified and trained cadres. 
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah directed the introduction of some new courses for students within the academy’s curricula, within the framework of introducing Arab culture, theater and local affairs, with a focus on five academic courses that include: local history in social terms such as songs, clothes and tools of all kinds, Arabic language, and the history of Arab theater, in addition to the economics of technical work.
His Highness also directed the completion of the integrated infrastructure of the Academy, praising the efforts of its employees during the previous periods.

The meeting approved the addition of some public figures to the membership of the Board of Trustees, from the region and the country, who are specialists in theatrical sciences and Arab culture in general.
The meeting also approved the report presented by the Academy Director on the work done during the last period, in addition to the financial report and the minutes of the previous meeting of the Board.

After the meeting, His Highness toured the academy, inspecting some of the academic facilities there, and was briefed on the equipment and development in the academic and scientific aspects.
In the library, Sharjah Ruler listened to a detailed explanation of the multiple systems included in it to provide information, and the various sources of knowledge, including books and references in various sciences and literature that are related to the academic programmes of the college, directed to supply them with more books, and what students need from various sources that serve their scientific research and studies.
His Highness chatted with a number of students at the Academy, during their daily work, about the importance of science and linking it to talent, continuous communication with teachers to gain experience, interest in innovative scientific research, knowledge of study levels, their educational attainment, the progress of their scientific performance, and their various projects.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah provided the students with a number of parental and educational advice and instructions on the correct study methods, and the need to obtain documented information through extensive reading of books and scientific research to develop their educational levels and artistic talents.
Besides His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, the meeting and the tour were attended by: Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the Sharjah Art Foundation, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Ismail Abdullah Ismail, Secretary General of the Arab Theater Authority, Ahmed Muhammad Bu Rahima, Director of the Theater Department at the Department of Culture, and Dr. Habib Ghuloom Al Attar, Cultural Adviser at the Ministry of Culture, Dr. Youssef Abdullah Eidabi, Cultural Adviser at Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi, Professor Dr. Luke Rittner, Director of the Royal Academy of Expressive Dance, Dr. Nadia Al Hassani, Dean of the College of Arts at the University of Sharjah, and Dr. Peter Barlow, Executive Director of the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy.
