Sharjah 24: The 9th edition of Al Maleh and Fishing Festival, held for four days in a row on Al Hosn Island and co-hosted by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Dibba Al Hisn Municipal Council, has come to a close.
At the country's most important heritage event, which focused on making dried fish, more than 15 productive families showed off their traditional and home-made goods, and about 20 government agencies took part. The public could also take part in educational workshops and fun activities, and more than 30 shops sold fishing gear, vegetables, and fruits.

Talib Abdullah Al Yahyai, director of the Dibba Al Hisn Municipality and chairman of the festival, said, "The ninth Al Maleh and Fishing Festival attracted more than 10,000 people from different emirates of the country, including tourists and people interested in the ancient, dried fish industries. Exhibitors made more than a million dirhams in sales and profits during the festival."
