Sharjah 24: Last Saturday, Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Architecture Triennial, witnessed the first activities of the general programme of the second edition of the Sharjah Architecture Triennial.
This event comes in the form of a dialogue meeting between Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi and the curator of the Triennal, Tosi Oshino, titled “Change, Adaptation, and the Possibilities of Contextual Architecture”, where she presented a comprehensive overview of the concept that she is discussing in the next edition 2023 and the view that will be reflected in the workers and programmes presented throughout the triennial.

This course also describes the preparations at Al Qasimia School, the headquarters of the Triennial.

It is noteworthy that the activities in the general programme are free and accessible to everyone.

The first edition of the triennial focused on the rights of future generations and the solutions and alternatives that design and architecture can offer to redirect the discourse towards sustainability, based on methods produced by conditions of scarcity or different resources.

The triennial comes under the slogan “The Aesthetics of the Changing: Adaptive Architecture” to provide inspiration for contextual solutions and principles for resource sharing and waste recycling. At the end of the meeting, the names of the first group of participants in the second edition of the Triennial were announced as part of a narrative session that includes participants and moderated by Tosi Oshino. She is a Nigerian designer and architect based in Lagos. She is the founder and director of the design studio CMDesign, which she founded in 2012. Oshino has worked on a number of civil, commercial and residential architecture projects in Nigeria and is known for her socially responsive approach to architecture, design and urbanisation.
