Sharjah24: Al Majaz Amphitheatre of Sharjah, an affiliate of Sharjah Government Media Bureau, has signed an artistic cooperation agreement with the National Arab Orchestra from Detroit, Michigan USA, aimed at supporting and reviving the diverse musical heritage of the Arab world.
The upcoming season of #Lets Majaz (Hala Majaz) will see the National Arab Orchestra, which includes both American and Arab musicians, take center-stage at the iconic Al Majaz Amphitheatre to celebrate the arts while promoting the enduring message of peace and tolerance by the architectural landmark and monument in the heart of Khalid Lagoon in Sharjah.

Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the SGMB, stressed that the partnership agreement with the National Arab Orchestra is part of Al Majaz Amphitheatre’s continuing plans and efforts to support and celebrate the authentic Arab art and culture including its musical heritage, linked to the aesthetic movement of ‘tarab.’ Since its inception, Al Majaz Amphitheatre has hosted several concerts and activities throughout the year aimed at reviving those artistic and cultural traditions, he added.

Underlining the key role of the arts in articulating and fortifying one’s cultural identity, heritage and civilization, Allay lauded the efforts of the National Arab Orchestra in reviving the cherished art form and memories of authentic Arab music in the diaspora. It has taken upon itself the responsibility of raising the artistic taste of generations and introducing them to their cultural heritage, he added.

Voicing his pleasure towards the partnership with Al Majaz Amphitheatre in Sharjah, National Arab Orchestra founder and music director, Michael Ibrahim said, “We look forward to creating beautiful memories with our partners in Sharjah and are excited to celebrate the beauty of our culture at these amazing events hosted by Al Majaz Amphitheatre. We join hands in creating projects that celebrate the beauty and diversity of the Arab world, speaking to the audience through the universal language of music.

Ibrahim added that the National Arab Orchestra is proud to support Sharjah’s efforts to revive the arts in the Arab world in all its various forms.
