Sharjah24 - WAM: The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has implemented an emergency food and medical operation in Sudan, following the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the follow-up of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.
After announcing a state of emergency in six states, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation announced the help comprises of 15 tonnes of essential commodities and 15 tonnes of medical supplies to give relief to individuals impacted by the heavy rains and floods that ravaged large portions of the country.
The Foundation confirmed that the first phase of help will focus on getting to the people who need it and giving them the basics. This is because reports from Sudan say that 89 people have died because of the rain and floods, and 18,000 homes have been completely destroyed and 25,000 have been damaged.
Medical aid included supplies for emergency medical teams and first aid for the injured, as well as products for personal care, while food included staples like rice, wheat, sugar, powdered milk, tea, and lentils.
The Foundation further stated that the continuance of food and medical assistance delivery to Sudan is being carried out in accordance with UAE leadership directions, confirming the two countries' strong and distinguished relations as well as the UAE's will to assist the brotherly people of Sudan.
