Sharjah24: Ahmed Hassan Al Muhairi, the official spokesman for Sharjah Cats and Dogs Shelter (SCADS) of Environment and Protected Areas Authority, stated that the Sharjah Cat and Dog Shelter contributes to maintaining the ecological balance and controlling the numbers of cats and dogs in residential neighborhoods.
Ahmed Al Muhairi, in exclusive statements to "Sharjah 24", referred to the services provided by the shelter, which is the adoption service and receiving complaints, to the shelter to be received by the veterinarian and a comprehensive examination is carried out to ensure that it is free of diseases.

Al Muhairi stressed that the cats and dogs that receive the shelter are castrated to stop the breeding process, vaccinated and a slide is placed in their body. Their bodies, castration, and adoption in the shelter, especially dogs, are received and dealt with in the same procedures and are not returned to the street for the sake of the residents’ safety.

Ahmed Hassan Al-Muhairi added that the adoption service is available to everyone, whereby a questionnaire is filled out clarifying the personal information of the adopted person and the specialist is interviewed to ensure that the person knows how to deal with animals. Several types are available, including Shirazi, the Turkish and the hybrid at the age of 4 months and above. As for the dogs, there are several types, including the Husky, the German Shepherd, the Saluki, and the hybrid at the age of 4 months and above.
