Sharjah 24: The organising committee of the Kalba Beach Games, which is scheduled to hold its second edition next November, held its first meeting on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Khor Kalba Mangroves Centre in Kalba to prepare for the tournament.
Abdul Malik Jani, Vice-Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, and Chairman of the Organising Committee, welcomed the attendees, indicating that the meeting comes as an extension of the success of the first edition of the Kalba Beach Games with the support and vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
He also thanked all institutions, bodies, government departments and sports institutions that contributed to the success of the first edition, saying this is an indication towards presenting a distinguished edition this year, especially since it coincides with the emirate’s winning of the Arab Sports Culture Capital Award and organising events accompanying the Kalba edition within the Arab Sports Culture Forum to achieve the council’s strategy in spreading sports culture, encouraging the practice of various beach games, and supporting sports tourism.
During the meeting, the report of the first edition, its organisational structure, the tasks of the various committees, and announcing the details of the event were addressed. Games and the media and marketing plan were also reviewed.
The second edition of Kalba Beach Games will be held during November 2-18 and cover seven categories: Triathlon, Beach football, Beach Volleyball, Beach Basketball, athletics, 2,5 and 8km runs, running at distances of 3 km, 5 km and 8 km, and water sports in rowing and jet-ski with the possibility of adding any other games and self-defence games including jujisto, karate, judo, taekwondo.
The meeting also reviewed the tasks and responsibilities of the various committees.
