Sharjah 24: As part of the Emirate of Sharjah's ongoing effort to foster entrepreneurship and provide incentives for citizens, the Sharjah Foundation to Support Pioneering Entrepreneurs (RUWAD) of the Sharjah Economic Development Department has achieved major leaps this year.
In this regard, Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Chairman of Sharjah's Economic Development Department, emphasised the critical role that the Department plays through its strategy and the tasks undertaken by the "Ruwad" Foundation in providing a stimulating environment for entrepreneurship in the Emirate of Sharjah and creating a positive competitive environment that will consolidate the strength and durability of the state's economy.

Al Suwaidi complimented the services offered by the authorities in the Emirate of Sharjah to boost the investment climate and give citizens relevance via features of support for national pioneering initiatives to assist and strengthen the small and medium enterprise sector, particularly national enterprises under the directions of His Highness. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council.

According to Hamad Ali Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Director of the Sharjah Foundation for Supporting Pioneering Projects, the Foundation's work continues to be extraordinarily successful in light of the wide spectrum of pioneering projects and their access to the Foundation's services.

A total of 86 projects were developed as a result of the support of the Foundation's services in the second quarter of this year, according to Al-Mahmoud, while 57 projects were approved to renew their membership for a second or third year since they were exempt from all government costs, he said. Membership for 19 projects has been extended for the fourth and fifth years.

According to Al Mahmoud, the Foundation's Project Finance Committee has agreed to allocate 400,000 dirhams from the Foundation's asset financing programme to a new tourism project on the Emirate of Sharjah's eastern shore.
