Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Department of Suburbs and Villages Affairs (SDSVA) received the Khor Kalba Suburb Council building in the city of Kalba in the Emirate of Sharjah, to announce the council’s joining of the suburban councils operating in the emirate to serve the people.
Attending the ceremony were Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Member of the Sharjah Executive Council, Head of the SDSVA; Eng. Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Member of the Executive Council, Engineer Ali bin Shaheen Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Sharjah Directorate of Public Works (SDPW); Abdullah Suleiman Al Kabouri, Director of Councils Affairs in the SDSVA; Engineer Bashayer Al Mansouri, Director of Kalba Branch in the SDPW; and Maryam Al Mazmi, Director of the Institutional Contact Centre.

The council’s building is characterised by a local and modern urban style, along with spacious facilities that effectively meet the various social needs provided by the councils, in addition to embracing all the various tasks and services provided to families. Built on an area of 5260 square metre, the building includes a main council, two sub-majlis, service rooms, and 6 offices for employees, in addition to an office and a meeting room for members as well as other facilities.

Sheikh Majid Al Qasimi stressed the importance of opening the Khor Kalba Suburb Council and pointed out that Khor Kalba Suburb Council, which is the fourteenth in the emirate and the third in Kalba, works alongside the suburban councils aimed at strengthening social bonds among the people through forums and events that bring them together in the councils, in addition to monitoring their needs and discussing their ideas and proposals in various fields and submitting them to decision makers.

Head of SDPW stressed that the construction of suburb councils embodies a translation of the policy of the Government of Sharjah, and falls within the development plan of the Department always seeking to develop, to reach the highest levels in various aspects of life.

Eng. Bashayer Al Mansouri indicated that the Khor Kalba Suburb Council effectively meets the nvarious social needs to serve the people, noting that these councils have a pivotal role in conveying the voice of citizens to the officials.
