Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences and Technology (SAASST) of the University of Sharjah (UoS) has participated in several research projects at the 44th Scientific Assembly of COSPAR (July 16-24, 2022), which was held in Athens, Greece recently. Over nine days, the conference discussed a variety of subjects in astronomy and space sciences in the presence of many scientists, astronauts, and specialists.
The academy’s participation in this fundamental international conference aims to showcase and discuss the latest scientific research of the UoS and SAASST in astronomy and space sciences. Furthermore, it provides many opportunities for exchanging experiences, results, data, and opinions and promotes global networking, which yields international collaboration, thereby expanding and building on current expertise.
The UoS/SAASST delegation at the conference consisted of Dr. Antonios Manousakis, Assistant Professor at the UoS Department of Applied Physics and Astronomy, and the SAASST High Energy Physics lab, Mrs. Aisha Alowais, Research Assistant at the Space Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, and the Meteorite Center. In addition, Mrs. Fatima Alketbi represented the CubeSat Lab, while Mr. Salem Alqahtani represented the Radio Astronomy Lab.
