Sultan bin Ahmed witnesses signing agreement in name of GACA

Sharjah24: Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of University of Sharjah (UoS), witnessed Monday morning, at his office at the university, the signing of agreement to establish chair at University of Sharjah in the name of General Authority of Civil Aviation.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the General Authority of Civil Aviation by its Director General, Saif Muhammad Al Suwaidi, and for the University of Sharjah, Prof. Hamid Majul Al Nuaimi, Director of the University of Sharjah.

The agreement provides for support of many common areas between the university and the authority, and includes support for scientific research and development in the field of civil aviation through:
1. Supporting research projects agreed upon by the two parties in the fields of civil aviation, including electronic security, artificial intelligence, Internet of things and blockchain, aviation medicine, aviation-related environmental protection and other areas of research and studies in law, humanities and social sciences, and unmanned aerial vehicle traffic management; and logistics.
2. Recruiting international experts from outside the country to conduct and support studies and scientific research and organise seminars and scientific forums.
3. Providing technical or legal advice, whether through students or through the faculty.
4. Providing research grants for master's and doctoral students in related subjects according to university regulations.

The agreement provides for the support and financing of the development of postgraduate programmes at the university, such as air and space law with the College of Law, aeronautical engineering with the College of Engineering, and aviation medicine with the College of Medicine, in addition to the establishment of a classified periodical magazine to publish research and articles periodically and in the fields of specialization.

The meeting dealt with discussing many common topics related to the scientific and research aspect in order to enhance relations between the University of Sharjah and the General Authority of Civil Aviation and to contribute to the advancement of various aspects by using studies and research and qualifying specialised cadres.

The signing of the agreement was attended by His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, a number of members of the Board of Trustees of the University of Sharjah and senior officials of both parties.
