Sharjah24: The Breastfeeding Friends Association (BFA), one of the health support associations at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, reviewed the most important initiatives and events in 2022.
This came within the framework of its keenness to consolidate the principle of breastfeeding among mothers and provide them with all forms of support, and to ensure an effective contribution to achieving the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah to be a healthy and friendly city for children and young people and an environment free of diseases.
This came during the first annual general meeting for 2022, in the presence of Her Excellency Eng. Khawla Abdulaziz Al Noman, President of the Breastfeeding Friends Society, Dr. Safia Al Khaja, Vice President of the Society, representatives from the Ministry of Community Development, members of the Society’s Board of Directors and the rest of the members.
Engineer Khawla Abdul Aziz Al Noman welcomed the attendees, noting that this meeting comes within the framework of the association's keenness to discuss development ideas towards launching innovative initiatives and programs that aim to consolidate the practice of breastfeeding among mothers, and raising awareness among members of society of the importance and benefits of breastfeeding, stressing the association’s keenness to intensify its efforts to achieve the vision of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Muhammad Al Qasimi, President of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah.
Al-Noman affirmed the association’s full commitment to providing innovative initiatives and programs with the aim of emphasizing the importance of breastfeeding, and promoting the culture of mothers with its many benefits that secrete hormones that help maintain the mother’s physical and psychological health, reduce weight after childbirth, reduce bone weakness, uterine and breast cancer, and reduce cases of depression. The stress and anxiety experienced by the mother after pregnancy.
The meeting’s agenda also included introducing the working members and new affiliated members, as well as ratifying the minutes of the General Assembly meeting for the year 2021, and presenting the association’s budget for the year ending 2021 and the new year 2022.
