Sharjah 24: The Breastfeeding Friend's Society (BFS) of the health promotion department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah organised the second forum of breastfeeding supporters.
The forum aims at exchanging knowledge and expertise with the concerned authorities across the UAE to support breastfeeding and develop the programs, services, and initiatives offered and performed by the society through mutual and common channels to help the maximum number of mothers who face challenges with breastfeeding and to raise awareness of the community on the importance of breastfeeding by counselors and volunteers with years of experience.
During the forum which was held virtually and was attended by the chairperson of the Society, Eng. Khawla Abdul Aziz Al Noman and a number of BFF staff and volunteers, the main achievements of 2020 & 2021 were addressed.
The Chairperson welcomed everyone and said " supporting mothers and supporting breastfeeding is a mutual responsibility and this forum is a platform to unify efforts of authorities to emphasise the practice of breastfeeding among mothers and offer all forms of support to raise awareness in the society of the importance and benefits of breastfeeding which is considered the best source of infants' nutrition and the prevention of diseases.
She noted that this forum comes within the framework of the wise vision of the wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council of Family Affairs, to improve the general and psychological health of children through increasing the number of breastfeeding which is the ideal way to build a healthy family relationship towards a healthy and safe society enjoying health and wellness.
Breastfeeding supporters' Forum is a supporting group from all over the United Arab Emirates. It was established by the Breastfeeding Friends' Society.
