Sharjah24: The Digital Sharjah online platform and smart app has been enabling land and real estate owners to carry out transactions with the Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey without having to physically visit the entity’s customer service centres.
Launched in November 2021 by the Sharjah Digital Office (SDO), Digital Sharjah is a one-stop user interface that offers 41 government services across seven broad categories to benefit various groups of society.
The real estate section on the Digital Sharjah platform includes the ‘Issue or Renew Official Map’ service, which allows users to request a certified map to complete the land ownership process or renew a certified map that has already been requested.
Landowners can use the ‘Know Your Location’ option to download a map that shows the location of their property and the services in the area along with aerial images of the neighbourhood.
Services rendered under the ‘Renew Map of Granted Land’ option enables owners of valid granted land to renew the land map.
The ‘Issue Certificate of Granted Lands’ service aids users with requesting the issuance of a certificate listing land grants in the applicant’s name. Charity organisations are exempt from the service fees. The ‘Map of Identifying Angles and Diameters’ function provides a map showing the proportions of a plot of land. Service fees are not charged to holders of a housing grant or loan.
Through the ‘Physical Planning Statement’ service, users can obtain a document detailing the planning requirements a plot of land, including the type of use, height, setbacks, positions and more. This facility is free of charge for holders of a housing grant or loan as well as government entities.
The same groups are exempt from paying for the ‘Determine Interlock’ service, which identifies the location of an interlock area.
More public and private sector services will continue to be added to the Digital Sharjah platform in forthcoming phases of its development.
