Sharjah Employees Chess Championship to kick off on Tuesday

Sharjah 24: The activities of the 10th Chess Championship for Government Authorities, Institutions and Departments, organised by Sharjah Government Employees Club, in cooperation with the Sharjah Cultural and Chess Club, and under the supervision of the Sharjah Sports Council, will kick off on Tuesday evening, April 26.
More than 50 players representing 16 government departments and institutions in the Emirate of Sharjah will participate in the tournament. The competitions will take place in 6 rounds of rapid chess over two days, April 26 and 27.

His Excellency Dr. Tariq Sultan bin Khadim, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Government Employees Club, confirmed that the tournament comes within the sports and cultural programmes and events organised by the Sharjah Government Employees Club, in order to increase communication between Sharjah Government employees, in an enjoyable and diverse competitive atmosphere. The Championship aims to achieve the club’s goals in creating an entertainment destination for Sharjah government employees.  

Bin Khadim thanked the Sharjah Cultural and Chess Club for hosting the tournament and organising the technical aspects of the competitions.

His Excellency Imran Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Vice Chairman of the Sharjah Cultural and Chess Club, praised the activities organised by the Sharjah Employees Club, being a civilised destination for Sharjah government employees, and praised the great successes achieved by the club in attracting Sharjah employees to participate in various events, pointing that the competitions confirm the distinguished position that chess has enjoyed in the Emirati society.
